Punters are faced with a tough card of ten races at Kenilworth on Tuesday 26 November, and the last few races are of particular interest.
In Race 8, a Class 4 Handicap over 1200m, a decent run is expected from three-year-old O’Tenikwa.
The three-year-old Vercingetorix gelding has had just five starts, winning twice and placing twice.
He did disappoint last time out when only ninth but it is easy to find excuses for that run.
O’Tenikwa was drawn badly and over-raced, but nevertheless finished only 3-lengths back – quite an achievement that puts that run into perspective.
That race was run around a tight turn and, although he has won there before, he has been much better up the straight.
Jockey Corne Offer knows how to get the best out of him and although there are many improving rivals, he should at least make the frame.
Trainer Adam Marcus has conditioned his five-year-old gelding Oliver to strike top form of late.
A winner of four of his last five start, he landed a hat-trick last time out.
The Twice Over gelding has picked up a 5-point penalty for that last win but he can take out Race 9, a Class 4 Handicap over 1200m.
Jockey Grant van Niekerk boasts a perfect three from three record when in the irons aboard Oliver.
In the last race, a Class 4 Handicap over 1000m, speedy Roccapina will be expected to recoup losses.
She was a costly failure at very short odds last time out but is still learning the game and being slow away clearly cost her.
If she jumps better, she may get punters out of trouble at the end of a tough day.
